Jupiter Renewables will invest INR 2,700 crore in the solar manufacturing plants in Andhra Pradesh. The plant, located in Rambilli, Anakapalli district, will have a capacity of 4.8 gigawatt (GW) solar photovoltaic (PV) cells and 1.5 GW module manufacturing. This initiative is expected to generate over 2,200 jobs.

India aims to strengthen domestic solar manufacturing by establishing non-tariff barriers (NTBs), particularly against Chinese imports. In June 2026, government projects must use locally produced solar cells, and the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) must be enforced. Expanding local capacity, reducing geopolitical dependence, and enhancing exports are the goals of these steps. Taking advantage of this upcoming import barrier, Andhra Pradesh is ramping up solar cell incentives.

Investment Details

The project will be developed in two phases:

Phase I: It will cost INR 1,504 crore and includes 2.4 GW solar PV cell and 1.5 GW solar PV module manufacturing. It would be completed by March 2026.

Phase II: It will cost INR 1,196 crore and includes which includes a 2.4 GW solar cell facility, which will come up by July 2026.

State Incentives

The state government has extended a special package of incentives to Jupiter Renewables, including in-principal approval for allotment of 142 acres of land at a concessional rate of INR 50 lakh per acre. The company will also receive grants of tailor-made incentives, such as 50 per cent capital subsidy on building cost, plant and machinery cost, and reimbursement of 100 per cent of stamp duty on purchase of land and land conversion charges.

Renewable Energy Hub

Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself as a leader in solar module and cell production, with Jupiter Renewables being the third company to set up a solar manufacturing base in the state. The state aims to attract investments worth INR 10 lakh crore and create approximately 7.5 lakh jobs in the clean energy sector. With India introducing non-tariff barriers to strengthen domestic solar manufacturing, Andhra Pradesh is taking advantage of this opportunity to ramp up incentives for solar cell manufacturers.
