AMIGO LNG SA de CV, a Mexican joint venture, has formally awarded a pivotal Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract to Drydocks World for the fabrication and delivery of what is set to become the world's largest Floating LNG (FLNG) liquefaction facility. The Dubai-based shipyard will also construct the associated Floating Storage Units (FSU) infrastructure as part of the agreement.

Project Scope and Construction Details

The EPC contract will be executed at Drydocks World's state-of-the-art facility in Dubai. The project scope includes the conversion of existing LNG carriers into Floating Storage Units (FSUs) to support the new liquefaction operations. Additionally, the shipyard will construct new-build FLNG barges that will incorporate advanced U.S.-based pre-treatment and liquefaction technologies.

This integrated solution is designed to deliver a massive production capacity of over 4.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), a figure that surpasses any existing floating LNG development. The partnership will accelerate the delivery of a critical energy asset, establishing a new LNG corridor to supply gas from the U.S. Permian Basin to markets in Asia and Latin America.
