SB Orion Solar Belt
The SB Orion Solar Belt is a solar belt made of 3 solar farms with a total capacity of 900 MW and spans across 5 acres. It is located in Milam County, Texas. It is built with 1.3 million solar modules and is built with 1.3 million solar modules.

The land of 5 acres is rented from 27 different landowners. The project land is surrounded by local schools, hence the project manager committed to USD 150,000 to renovate school bathrooms and its plumbing works. The project's Orion 1, Orion 2, and Orion 3 reached commercial operation in October 2024, and it powers Google's data centers in Dallas.
Edwards & Sanborn Solar + Energy Storage
Edwards & Sanborn Solar + Energy Storage is an 864 MWdc solar project combined with 3,287 MW energy storage owned by Terra-Gen, LLC. The project was developed by Mortenson under an EPC contract for both solar and energy storage.
The project is located in Kern County, California. It has about 1.9+ million solar panels installed and 120,720 batteries installed. It is considered one of the largest projects in U.S. Air Force history. The site construction began in Q1 2021 and is completed in 2023. The project is spread across 4,660 acres.
Copper Mountain Solar Facility
The Copper Mountain Solar Facility surpassed the solar star and is known as the biggest solar farm in the US. It was built in multiple phases with the initial phase in 2010.

It is built in Boulder city, Nevada region with a capacity of 802 MW. It is developed and owned by Sempra Renewables, a subsidiary of Sempra Energy. It is built across 4,000 acres in multiple phases with 9 million solar panels. These solar panels are provided by First Solar. Earlier, Solar Star was known as the biggest solar farm in the US until Copper Mountain Solar Facility was further expanded with capacity.
Solar Star
Solar Star was one of the biggest solar farms in the US and one of the largest in the world. It was formerly known as Antelope Valley solar projects located near Rosamond, California. This solar PV (photovoltaic) power facility has a capacity of 586 MW. It is known as the largest source of solar power in the US.
Built with an estimated cost of GBP 1.5bn (USD 2 Billion), it is known as the world’s largest solar power station. Solar Star is built by Sunpower under a EPC contract (Engineering, Procurement, Construction). BHE Solar, a subsidiary of BHE Renewables is the owner and operator of this solar farm.

The solar power generated from the 1.72 million solar panels is purchased by Southern California Edison. The construction began in Q1 of 2013, and began its partial operation in 2014. In Q2 of 2015, Solar Star began its full-scale commercial operation. Covering 3,200 acres, it generates sufficient electricity to power 245,000 California households.

Desert Sunlight Solar Farm
The Desert Sunlight Solar Farm is built in Riverside County, California. Built with a project cost of USD 1.5 Billion, this solar farm has a projected annual generation of 1,060,000 MWh. This solar farm prevents about 614,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually.

The Desert Sunlight Solar Farm has a generation capacity of 550 MW and is one of the largest completed solar PV projects in the world. Its solar panels are deployed with First Solar’s Series 3 thin-film cadmium-telluride solar modules.
It is owned by a joint venture of General Electric, NextEra, and Sumitomo of America. About 550 construction jobs were created during the time of construction. A total 70,000 metric tons of American steel was used by the end of farm construction. The desert sunlight solar farm has 8.9 million solar modules installed.
Topaz Solar Farm
Topaz Solar Farm is located in San Luis Obispo County, with a capacity of 550 MW. Initially, owned by First Solar, it was acquired by MidAmerican Energy Holdings in January 2012.
The construction of the solar farm began in 2011 and began its commercial operation in 2015. The Topaz Solar Farm is built at a project cost of USD 2.5 Billion and owned by Berkshire Hathaway Energy (formerly known as MidAmerican Energy Holdings). It supplies power to about 181,000 homes and it prevents about 407,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

First Solar was awarded the EPC contract for the topaz solar farm. Additionally, this solar power plant is installed with thin-film cadmium telluride photovoltaic modules. A 25 year PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) is signed under which California-based Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) will purchase the power generated from the solar farm.
Roadrunner Solar Project
The Roadrunner Solar Project is unique with 1.2 million bi-facial solar panels with integrated storage. It is built in Upton County in West Texas and is known as the largest operational solar project in Texas. It is a 497 MW capacity solar project integrated with 57MW (85.7 MWh) battery storage.

The project was built in two phases across 2,770 acres, the first phase with 252 MW and phase 2 with 245 MW. The Roadrunner solar project construction began in February 2019 and the project completed by September 2020. The Roadrunner Solar project can generate 1.2TWh annually and prevents over 800,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year. It is one of the largest solar projects in the Enel Green Power portfolio.
Permian Energy Center
The Permian Energy Center built in Andrews County, Texas is a 460 MW solar PV and a battery storage facility with 40 MW. Danish energy company Ørsted is the owner and operator of the project.

It is built as a combined solar PV (Solar + Battery storage) on a 1,456 ha-site. The solar farm is installed with 1.3 million bifacial Solar PV modules on a single-axis trackers provided by Nextracker. The solar panels were supplied by JinkoSolar and JA Solar.
A PPA was signed by ExxonMobil and Lincoln Clean Energy (Ørsted Onshore) in November 2018. Under this agreement, Ørsted will supply 250 MW power to Exxon Mobil. It is built by Sargent & Lundy under an EPC contract, spread over 3,600 acres. This solar park provides power to more than 80,000 American homes.
Mammoth North Solar
Mammoth Solar Project is one of the largest solar projects in US that is expected to generate 1.3 GW of energy. This will power about 275,000 households and is planned across 13,000 acres across Starke and Pulaski Counties. Currently, the first phase- Mammoth North Solar is operational and is generating 400 MW of energy. It is the first phase of the Mammoth solar project.
The Mammoth solar project began in 2019 form the grassroots of the Mammoth region. This project land was leased by the local farmers of Mammoth region. On decommissioning of this project, the landowners will receive their land back and can utilize it as they see fit. Similarly, the Mammoth South Solar and Mammoth Central (phase 2-4) of the Mammoth solar project is being built as a agrivoltaics project, incorporating heritage farming practices alongside solar energy generation.

The project development of phase 1 began in 2019, and in May 2021, Doral Renewables executed a long-term PPA with AEP Energy, a subsidiary of American Electric Power. In October 2021, the project was officially launched, and in March 2022, the construction of the first phase began in March 2022 and received its financial closing for the construction in June 2022. The first phase of 400 MW became operational in October 2024. Recently in April 2025, Nova Solar was awarded the O&M contract for the Mammoth North Solar project.
Ivanpah Solar Power Project
The Ivanpah Solar Power project is a 392 MW solar project operated by NRG Energy Inc. It is built near Ivanpah Dry lake, California. It is built at a project cost of USD 2 Billion by BrightSource & Bechtel. The solar project provides electricity sufficient for 140,000 homes.
Also known as ISEGS (Ivanpah Solar Electric Generation System), it is built with 173,500 heliostats, a sun trajectory, steam generators and solar-filed software. The Ivanpah Solar facility annually prevents 500,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions, and is renowned as one of the renewable energy projects in the United States.

It is known as one of the world’s largest Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) facilities during its commission in 2014. Bechtel worked as the EPC contractor, whereas Riley power and Siemens supplied Solar Boilers and Siemens SST-900 steam turbines. The equity capacity of USD 160 Million was raised by one of the largest companies in USA- Round D.
Agua Caliente Solar Project
Located in Yuma County, Arizona, Agua Caliente Solar project is the first utility-scale solar PV plant to use inverter technology. It has a capacity of 290 MW and is installed with more than 4.9 Million of thin-film cadmium-telluride solar modules provided by First Solar.

The Department of Energy (DOE) issued USD 967 Million loan for the construction of the project. About 400 jobs were created during the time of construction. Built using 39,000 metric tons of American Steel, this solar project prevents 312,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
The projected annual generation for this solar project is 559,000 MWh of clean energy. Global Infrastructure Partners & MidAmerican Renewables LLC are the owners for this solar project.
Mount Signal Solar Farm
The Mount Signal Solar Farm is a ground-mounted solar project with a solar power capacity of 265.7 MW. Located in California, this project generated 500,000 MWh electricity sufficient to meet the electricity requirement of 72,000 households.
The solar plant was developed by a joint venture of Avnatus and Silver Ridge Power, spread over an area of 1,963 acres. It began its commercial operation in May 2014 and has been offsetting 356,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year.

Abengoa was the EPC contractor and First Solar was the supplier of 3,100,000 Solar PV Modules. Elettronica Santerno was the supplier of 138 inverters. According to PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) San Diego Gas & Electric is the power purchase for a period of 25 years from 2014. The contracted capacity is 200 MW.

California Valley Solar Ranch
The California Valley Solar Ranch with an installed capacity of 250 MW solar PV that generates 650,000 megawatt-hours of clean energy per year. It is owned by Global infrastructure Partners and is built at San Luis Obispo, California. It received a loan of USD 1.2 Billion by the Department of Energy in September 2011.
This solar PV project is the first utility-scale PV project in the United States that contributes about USD 315 Million into the local California Solar Power Market. Designed to utilizse T-0 single axis trackers, integrated with Wireless tracker monitoring and control system (TMAC). This ensures an increased output by 25% compared to traditional solar panel installations.

About 350 construction jobs were provided during the time of construction. The California Valley Solar Ranch is a renewable power project supplying clean energy to 100,000 homes annually. Under this project 90% of the construction waste was recycled. It is designed with nearly 750,000 solar panels making it the largest operating solar PV plants in the world.
