The UK construction industry remains a key pillar of the national economy employing over 3 million people and contributing more than 7% to the country’s GDP. Despite a sector-wide decline in 2024, the industry is showing signs of recovery in 2025, supported by renewed activity in new work and repair and maintenance.

Total construction output grew by 1.2% in the three months to May 2025, even as monthly output dipped slightly in May following three consecutive months of growth as reported by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
