METLEN Awarded 136 MWp Solar Project Contract by Genesis Energy in New Zealand

METLEN, through its Renewables & Energy Transition Platform Sector, has been awarded a contract by Genesis Energy to deliver a 136 MWp solar project in New Zealand. Genesis Energy is one of New Zealand's largest integrated electricity and gas retailers.

The contract encompasses full Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) as well as Operations & Maintenance (O&M) services for the solar development.

Project Specifications and Timeline

The Edgecumbe Solar Farm will have a capacity of 136 MWp and is expected to generate approximately 238 GWh annually. This energy output will be sufficient to power around 29,800 homes.

Construction is expected to commence shortly, with first generation targeted for mid-2027. The project award was announced on November 24, 2025.

The project represents another significant milestone in the delivery of Genesis Energy's Gen35 strategy. The solar farm will further advance renewable generation development in New Zealand as part of Genesis Energy's broader expansion of its energy portfolio.
